Opposition leader Bill Shorten has unveiled his party’s ‘women’s policy’, promising more action to reduce childcare costs and a focus on closing the gender pay gap.

The Labor leader also pledged $660 million for family and domestic violence issues including better legal assistance, safe housing and support packages for victims.

While announcing the policy, Mr Shorten also took the opportunity to spruik the fact his party has more female representation than the Coalition. Image: News Corp Australia

Does Shorten think there is a massive coordinated conspiracy by business owners and HR depts (most made up of women) to pay women less for the same work as men? We have equality of opportunity. Equality of outcome is communism. paygap auspol AUSVote2019

Is there a party with a ‘men’s policy’ I could vote for? A party that would stop the discrimination caused by anti-male gender quotas, that would undo the MeToo lie ‘women don’t lie, women must be believed’, that would restore appreciation for men & undo ‘men are toxic’ hate speech

If women are deemed to be equal and as we are told their pay rates are lower, why then, on pure economic grounds aren't women holding more places in the work force. There must be other considerations in play.

Is he also solving the unicorn problem, or is the wage gap the only mythical creature he believes in?

Bill is going to tax all company’s so they go broke, women stay home and do not get paid so no gender pay gap, and the women at home look after their kids so no child care costs. Fixed.

Not ONE industry I have EVER worked in do men get paid any more then women.NOT ONE. The only pay difference between men & women, men & men, women & women is if they are in management or a specialized industry & based on skills & years in position. yet more BS pedaled by ALP

The gender pay gap is an extraordinary lie similar to MeToo’s lie “women don’t lie, women must be believed.”Women get paid the same money for the same job & are actually now elevated to positions they couldn’t earn themselves via the application of anti-male discriminatory quotas

UGHHHHHHH UGHHHHHHH UGHHHHHHH UGHHHHHHH UGHHHHHHH UGHHHHHHH UGHHHHHHH

The gender pay gap is an extraordinary lie similar to the MeToo lie of “women don’t lie, women must be believed.” Women get paid the same money for the same job and are actually now elevated above their capability through anti-male discriminatory gender quotas.Feminism is cancer

Looking forward to the release of the men's policy

Bill “thought bubble” Shorten at it again..... the last guy to have constant thought bubbles was K Rudd... say no more

Bill Shorten on & on about Gender Pay Gap Start with the Union Bill, Female officials paid $36K less then Male officials Bill Shorten on & on About Gender inequality Hmm, Only 26% of high ranked Unionist are Women, Start there Bill

sayanythingtowin billshortenmp

Double talk devils promising shit they cannot deliver They say what you want to hear what you need to hear then do the dirty anyways cos they can and accountable to none Democracy lol doncha luv it 😂😂

Can someone ask her what she thinks please?

One of those isn't universally a woman's issue and the other is straight up falsified. Not the best day Billy

So two issues that 1, his party made with unrealistic standards for childcare workers & 2, is just a flat out lie. On the money Bill, if your base is listening to this, they must be rusted on Labor nuts!

My god Bill looks dodgy in this pic, like he wants to sell me a bridge

Embarrassing, women smell this pandering, this soy, this belittling.

Bill needs to suck up to women...most of them think he’s a smarmy eel and don’t trust a thing that comes out of his mouth...and they are right

What pay gap? I don’t know of one business/employer whether it’s private or federal that is allowed to pay anyone different based upon their gender.

But gender is but a social construct, apparently! 🤯

While Shorten announces major policies on Domestic Violence and Women, Morrison plays footsies with Palmer and sinks the boot into Labor and Shorten. Who is offering more for Australia?

Everytime I hear Bill Shorten talk about 'the top end of town' 😂😂

It doesn't fucking exist

Yeah, nah. Shifty Shorten’s getting desperate. How about not taxing the country to buggery first?

Yay!!!!!😂✊✊✊billshortenmp

Where's the money coming from when $15 billion a year will be lost on federal taxes from petrol? Or is it like Kevin in 07, just get this country into debt that cost us a billion a month in interest repayment!

Gender pay difference is a myth 🌈🦄
