Donald Trump will be able to run for the White House again in 2024 after the US Senate acquitted the former president of inciting the deadly January 6 riot at the Capitol.by calling for witnesses to testify before the Senate.Credit:The Senate voted 57-43 to convict Trump, with seven Republicans joining all 50 Democratic senators in declaring Trump guilty of inciting insurrection.

“No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.” The impeachment charge, passed by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives in January, stated that Trump had “threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a co-equal branch of government”.

“That might not be fair, it really might not be fair, but none of us can escape the demands of history and destiny right now.”

KnottMatthew Two time impeachment vindication must give Mr Trump more power and arrogance to his upcoming campaigns. He must now surely tell his group to ‘go home and stay in peace’ till 2024 election round.

KnottMatthew America... the greatest (not) and wackiest country in the world

KnottMatthew Not yet. They will enact the 14th amendment now. He can also be charged as a private citizen.

KnottMatthew Goes to show the ludicrous, waste of time and money that is the impeachment process. It's in the same league as Putin poisoning his opposition, allowing him to recover and then imprisoning him on a 'trumped' up charge. Utter bullshit!!

KnottMatthew The political system in that country is doomed

KnottMatthew The truth of the matter is America WANTS Trump.!!! Home of the brave,... land of the free,? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha😂😂😂😂😂😂

KnottMatthew You know who can't run for office? A convicted felon. He's committed plenty of those, do your thing judicial system...

KnottMatthew The White right looking after their own again. What will they do in a White minority America again with no White minority rule this time?

KnottMatthew Something seriously wrong with America.

KnottMatthew MAGA!!

KnottMatthew Another series of 'America a Comedy' comes to an end

KnottMatthew Weak ass republicans 😠😠😠👍

KnottMatthew Pity they don’t use secret ballots to remove fear from making honest decisions.

KnottMatthew

KnottMatthew A farce. Like most of the US of A.

Donald Trump hints at political comeback after US Senate acquits him | Sky News AustraliaDonald Trump says Democrats had been given a 'free pass to transform justice into a tool of political vengeance' after the US Senate voted to acquit the former president on charges he incited a violent insurrection.\n\nAlthough the final vote came in as 57 'guilty' and 43 'not guilty', the Democrats did not reach the two-thirds majority they needed to secure a conviction against Mr Trump.\n\nSeven members of Mr Trump's own party (Senators Ben Sasse, Mitt Romney, Richard Burr, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey and Bill Cassidy) joined Democrats on the charge of incitement.\n\nIn a statement after the trial, Mr Trump said it was 'a sad commentary on our times' that the Democrats had been given a 'free pass to transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree'.\n\nHe added: 'I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honourably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.\n\n'No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.'\n\nUS President Joe Biden said the acquittal was a reminder that democracy was 'fragile', and every American had a duty to defend the truth.\n\nMr Trump had been charged with 'incitement of insurrection' over last month's violence when the US Capitol was stormed by his supporters, just as Congress was attempting to ratify the 2020 election result.\n\nJust before the 6 January riots, thousands of his supporters gathered at a 'Save America' rally on the National Mall, minutes away from the Capitol. The Trump's will be importing thousands of containers of campaign merchandise from China and rake in hundreds of millions for their slush fund. Dems will keep winning if he runs again Trump has identified democratic weakness shown the way for a future despot to destroy American democracy.

Donald Trump acquitted of incitement of insurrection in second Senate impeachment trialThe US Senate votes to acquit former president Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial, with less than two thirds of senators finding him guilty of incitement of insurrection. Perhaps they need to now get every single person involved with the insurrection to do maximum time (20 yrs?) as they can’t blame Trump any further. Maybe the Rebublicans could go for the record and impeach Joe 3 times. 😜 Poor ABC is devastated.
