The US Senate has voted to acquit former president Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial.Senators voted 57-43 guilty on the charge of incitement of insurrection.
With Mr Trump having left office on January 20, a successful impeachment conviction could not have been used to remove him from power. I read the entire transcript of his pre-riot speech: couldn't see anything inciting violence or riots. There was lots of crap in his speech, but never any 'let's go riot', 'let's illegally storm the capitol' or similar. This was a politically-motivated waste of time & money.

It was not a trial of guilt (because we know he is) but of the bravery of the republicans to vote against Trump. It was a huge risk which includes risk to their position & physical safety
