Breaking: Donald Trump will be able to run for the White House again in 2024 after the US Senate acquitted the former president of inciting the deadly January 6 riot at the Capitol | KnottMatthew

Donald Trump will be able to run for the White House again in 2024 after the US Senate acquitted the former president of inciting the deadly January 6 riot at the Capitol.by calling for witnesses to testify before the Senate.Credit:The Senate voted 57-43 to convict Trump, with seven Republicans joining all 50 Democratic senators in declaring Trump guilty of inciting insurrection.

“No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.” The impeachment charge, passed by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives in January, stated that Trump had “threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a co-equal branch of government”.

“That might not be fair, it really might not be fair, but none of us can escape the demands of history and destiny right now.”

KnottMatthew Please explain this to the Aussie public!!

KnottMatthew Right. Still has to stay out of jail in New York. If any of the federal indictments stick, he’s done with politics.

KnottMatthew Absolutely shocking

KnottMatthew Trump could have held a gun to Pelosi's head and fired it on January 6th and those Republicans would have still acquitted him. Trump and his kids were partying, snorting coke and listening to 'Gloria' when the mob stormed the white house, but he is still guilty in my opinion.

KnottMatthew Piglet: if he is not found guilty does it mean he’s innocent? Pooh: No, it means they’re all guilty.

KnottMatthew Still the 1️⃣4️⃣th amendment to try yet

KnottMatthew Well, only a witch knows when its being hunted.

KnottMatthew ARgh Urgh Bleurgh

KnottMatthew Well, the republicans are gutless wonders

KnottMatthew Bahaha Pelosi must be bouncing off walls......Trump 2 - Pelosi 0......the left couldn’t win a Shit fight in a sewer..... if you don’t agree with the left then you’re wrong and they supported all the riots for the past 4 years.... there people democracy rules not socialism

KnottMatthew God help us

KnottMatthew Good news. Democrats are absolute time wasters. I hope Trump runs again in 2024.

KnottMatthew Why couldn’t the Senators conduct a secret ballot in this?

KnottMatthew Well I guess we know who the Republicans who allowed this are interested in ..... and it ain’t AMERICA!!

KnottMatthew Republicans who voted to acquit Trump put party politics and self interest above principles, despite the weight of evidence against Trump, a proven enemy of democracy and a continuing danger to the US Constitution.

KnottMatthew What a stupid system. Fancy trying to impeach or hold someone accountable through a vote by elected members. As if the facts ever matter. The country that considers themselves the father of democracy just acknowledged the legitimacy of Russia and China

KnottMatthew Here we go, Hitler Version 2.0

KnottMatthew Hopefully Trump will Benin jail in 2024

RBJRON KnottMatthew don’t put your money on Trump being able to run for President again. I’m sure there is a long line waiting to punish him for his criminality!

KnottMatthew God help democracy. USA you are slipping into fascist dictatorship

KnottMatthew America, you're fucked! Trump was right to assume he could shoot someone and suffer no penalty then?

KnottMatthew There goes a brave man

KnottMatthew Marvellous news for all those fighting against radical left wing agendas.

KnottMatthew He still faces serious charges in Georgia.

KnottMatthew “THE DON”

KnottMatthew My goodness stop wasting time on this impeachment crap. Aren’t there more pressing issues to deal with?

KnottMatthew FFS! In a way I hope he does ... the GOP deserve this. I’m sorry for America in general though ... your elected officials have forgotten you.

KnottMatthew This should give impetus to the 50% liberal, educated, civilized in the US to mobilize & crush the greed & corruption that has poisoned US politics. This is not the end for Trump or his opponents. He will end up in jail sooner or later.

KnottMatthew A big day for white supremacy in the USA.

KnottMatthew Trump 2024....you know it's coming.

KnottMatthew Gotta love that respect for the rule of law and equality before the law in the Hew Hess of Hay. But please continue to lecture China on democracy, human rights, etc

KnottMatthew I'm sorry to say that Sen McConnell has a point in saying that: - impeachment is for removal of SITTING officers - the actions of Mr Trump when President are subject to prosecution under the Criminal Justice System & to litigation in Civil Law. Let's hope we'll see him in courts

KnottMatthew quality j’ism

KnottMatthew Sad state of the world when the worlds greatest democracy can overlook such abject corruption, incompetence & mendacity. Trump will not run again but his vile legacy might survive a bit longer.

KnottMatthew Why keep pumping this line. He will not be running in 2024. The footage shown was enough to sink him. That WAS the 2024 election campaign. And Mitch McConnell just let you loudly know that the GOP will not put him forward as Pres. Focus.

KnottMatthew USA democracy has won, the left is standing small. A good lesson for the whole free world.

KnottMatthew Bread and circus

KnottMatthew

KnottMatthew The Capitol Police should have let the mob get hold of Pence: but would the impeachment vote have been any different? How deep is your hypocrisy when you experience a crime and then vote to acquit the perpetrator? That’s not forgiveness; it’s rank cowardice.

KnottMatthew Yes !

KnottMatthew He should never have been there facing charges from the democrats and Washington

KnottMatthew A sad day for all of us who believe in honesty and integrity in government as the once great United States hits a new low.

KnottMatthew He is allowed to, but he will be in prison before then

KnottMatthew I hope the Dems bulldoze over the GOP for everything Biden wants to do for the next 4 years. The GOP single handedly just made U.S. democracy look 3rd world. It will take years for the U.S. to regain the respect they had before Trump.

KnottMatthew 7 Republicans voted to impeach Trump, which is a political process not a formal legal process

KnottMatthew Why do you even report on this piece of shit.

KnottMatthew Lol America is seriously f()led

KnottMatthew Won’t happen

Donald Trump hints at political comeback after US Senate acquits him | Sky News AustraliaDonald Trump says Democrats had been given a 'free pass to transform justice into a tool of political vengeance' after the US Senate voted to acquit the former president on charges he incited a violent insurrection.\n\nAlthough the final vote came in as 57 'guilty' and 43 'not guilty', the Democrats did not reach the two-thirds majority they needed to secure a conviction against Mr Trump.\n\nSeven members of Mr Trump's own party (Senators Ben Sasse, Mitt Romney, Richard Burr, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey and Bill Cassidy) joined Democrats on the charge of incitement.\n\nIn a statement after the trial, Mr Trump said it was 'a sad commentary on our times' that the Democrats had been given a 'free pass to transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree'.\n\nHe added: 'I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honourably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.\n\n'No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.'\n\nUS President Joe Biden said the acquittal was a reminder that democracy was 'fragile', and every American had a duty to defend the truth.\n\nMr Trump had been charged with 'incitement of insurrection' over last month's violence when the US Capitol was stormed by his supporters, just as Congress was attempting to ratify the 2020 election result.\n\nJust before the 6 January riots, thousands of his supporters gathered at a 'Save America' rally on the National Mall, minutes away from the Capitol. The Trump's will be importing thousands of containers of campaign merchandise from China and rake in hundreds of millions for their slush fund. Dems will keep winning if he runs again Trump has identified democratic weakness shown the way for a future despot to destroy American democracy.

Donald Trump acquitted of incitement of insurrection in second Senate impeachment trialThe US Senate votes to acquit former president Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial, with less than two thirds of senators finding him guilty of incitement of insurrection. Perhaps they need to now get every single person involved with the insurrection to do maximum time (20 yrs?) as they can’t blame Trump any further. Maybe the Rebublicans could go for the record and impeach Joe 3 times. 😜 Poor ABC is devastated.
