'They were asking us to take an eye for an eye for Botham, and I feel like he isn't someone who would take an eye for an eye,' says one juror.

At the time, Jean, a 26-year-old accountant, was watching television and eating ice cream, and was likely startled by her presence, prosecutors said.

During the sentencing phase of Guyger's weeklong trial, prosecutors built a case through her police disciplinary records, texts and social media posts to speak to her character and argue that she was undeserving of a lenient sentence. Racist and offensive texts and posts were presented to the jury."They were asking us to take an eye for an eye for Botham," he said,"and I feel like he isn't someone who would take an eye for an eye. He would turn the other cheek.

The family's attorney, Lee Merritt, told ABC News on Friday that while the family believes in forgiveness, they still hoped for a higher sentence.

But? If it was a person of color u would.

It is time for blacks to start thinking of relocating back to Africa or they risk extinction in America after all Africa is their origin. I can’t figure out a crime BothamJean & others committed to deserve killing. It keeps me awake and i don't know for how long it would be.

This judge was clearly biased and her inappropriate interaction with the murderer is one example. Will this set a precedent? Remorse and forgiveness by the victim’s family will now be the factor when sentencing? This train ran off the rails.

What makes her any different from anyone else who kills someone? If it was anyone else 25-life for her to get 10 years and could be out in 5 tells me a lot about this so-called justice system and I've never seen a judge hug a convicted murderer

Translated, I couldn’t fully hold a white police officer accountable for shooting an unarmed black man in his own residence.

BothamJean probably wdn't want an eye for an eye. Like all of us, he probably wanted justice for anyone else who experienced what he did. What that jury delivered was NOT justice! Or perhaps it could be characterized as whiteJustice. StopPoliceViolence StopPoliceRACISM

She should have gotten at least 20 years! What the fuck? I'm tired of people speaking for Botham!

Black lives doesn’t matter to this jury.

She didn’t deserve 28 years, she deserved life!

If the prosecutors had been asking to take the murderer out and shoot her, that would have been 'eye for an eye'. Botham will not be rejoining society after 28 years or ever. That is the whitest excuse I have ever heard for ignoring the humanity of POC.

It’s tough being a juror. Very emotional. You’re among a group of people who swoop in on something another group has been working on for years and make a decision that affects there lives forever.

Jurors are just people who weren’t clever enough to get out of jury duty.

If it would have been the other way around they would have gave him life

Im not saying this to argue w/anyone.. but just to get opinion.Does it matter that she A)Had no malice against this guy,B) Said at least 20 times to 911-“I thought it was my apartment”, & C)The proximity of their apts. Again, dont slay me-Im writing a paper for school.

And if were him who broke into a police officer’s house because he wasn’t paying attention, drew his gun and killed her because she was eating ice cream in her own house, would you feel the same?

Why? Cuz she looks like Ivanka?

I thought jurors are suppose to listen to the facts and base their verdict as such.

So blame the family it’s their fault of why she only got 10 years. I heard they didn’t even want her to go to jail anyways.

I hate this tweet. How do you know what someone wanted if you never knew them

They give others a lot more time for a lot less. Bull shit as jury

Why the fuck not?

Sounds like this juror should not have been on the jury

Hopefully she gets a real punishment in jail! The jurors obviously thought more of her than they did the black man she shot dead!

The jurors didn’t think nor care about the dead black man!

White privilege much?

The black man is 6feet under and yet they know him being a black man he wouldn’t want a eye for an eye he’d want to forgive the white woman who walked into his apt and killed him a lesser sentences. Blacks must forgive whites for their crimes even in death

It's not about 'feelings.' It's about JUSTICE. What an obscenity.

What if he shot her? He would be under the prison!

He was eating ice cream, did she not recognize the room wasn’t hers... Calamity.

Masky_Jay_Hoody 'Eye for an eye' means you would have voted to execute her. Soon we'll hear that jurors are visiting this POS in prison.

Yeah, you know it would be great if we could ask him...oh right, he's dead...she murdered him in his own damn apt. 🙄 These jurors need to stop falling for tears. Geez, you think lawyers don't coach their clients to do that

These are the dumbest jurors ever!!

I'm sorry but jurors are Wrong!! Way wrong !! Should be at LEAST 25 YEARS!!

My black ass would be doing the max if I told the exact same story she told to this very same jury. Don’t me

One thing is for sure is, a man died in his own apartment having a bowl of ice cream. Let's wait for the appeal...... and if it does happen, I wonder what the next set of jurors would think that Mr. Jean would want.

The outcome of the Amber Guyger trial: Everyone lost, no one won. She made a series of stupid mistakes, that's all, nothing more. I still cannot see how she made it through the DPD Police Academy. That part will always be a mystery.

From the look of things this killer may get parole after 2 years... bunch of hypocrites!

This scene in The Iron Lady expresses what I think about the jurors’ assessment. “I feel like...” What you feel is irrelevant; what matters is what’s fact.

If a race soldier murder me, I grant you in advance to take an eye for an eye.

Very Hollywood she died that hair blonde and faked crying. The jury was bamboozled. She walks in 5 or less! They judge ought to be reprimand for lack of judgment! Amber asked for the jury bc judge was black, period. Stupid!😠

I could have given her 28 years just for the repeated counts of perjury.

No they weren’t. That would have required murdering her.

She killed an unarmed man sitting on his couch eating ice cream in his house. She deserved life. Screw her

trumpy and Pals high crimes and misdemeanors against the United States of America don't get to negotiate anything with anybody... They them GOP traitors go straight to Prison 4 Life..

Two jurors in Amber Guyger's trial say they believe Botham Jean 'would want to forgive her'Sentencing former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger to 10 years for the fatal shooting of her neighbor, Botham Jean, was one of the hardest things jurors ever had to do, two of them told ABC's 'Good Morning America.' Ummmmm for murdering him in cold blood?! Did she confess to the murder? Did she plea guilty? Did she not continue her defense hoping she would beat the case and get off scotch free? Perhaps seek employment at another department like other disgraced cops who got fired? Spare me the bullsh!t you clowns!
