Supreme court’s first female leader reached position by unusual route and is champion of diversity

She has long been breaking down barriers in the judiciary, which has struggled to cast off the perception it is an old boys’ club, overwhelmingly white, male and public-school educated.

Lady Hale's name will go down in legal history as the voice of the most 'judiciable' showing of teeth in modern British history, upholding the separation of powers, the sovereignty of Parliament and the rule of law. Move over Lord Denning.

And now she has broken the legitimacy of the court by instituting rule by judges and not law. Her politicization of the court is a shameful and dangerous legacy.

Casual 🕷❤️

Supreme Court ruling Lady is a breath of clean air..proves British democracy keeps fit..Chapeau Lady Hale!

She's doing her job, and that job means being impartial. I doubt she needs or wants a puff piece in the Guardian.

Brooch game strong here also.

Old school legend

Lady Hale, I don't think its breaking barriers of the Judiciary, all 11 Judges voting for the same thing, is a bit suspicious, I think you are all guarding ones own interest, ie your Gold Plated Pensions from the E.U, you have utterly and completely squashed any form of democracy

How does one gage Barrier Breaking? It is quite simple my dear Sirs: One knows it when one sees it!

She should be overseeing the loanchargereview. Make it happen Guardian.

As mulleres na xustiza británica dando un golpe na mesa, coma aquí, se lles deixasen.
