ANZ Bank faces fresh legal fight as ASIC takes it to court over fees charged 1.3 million times | clancyyeates

The corporate watchdog is taking legal action against ANZ Bank over a fee that was charged 1.3 million times when customers failed to make scheduled payments between two of their own accounts.

ANZ did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement, and on Thursday the bank said it would fight ASIC's civil action. "While ANZ is still considering the matters raised by ASIC, ANZ categorically denies any deliberate wrongdoing and intends to vigorously defend any such allegation."
