Supreme Court sends case over census citizenship question back to lower court

authored by Chief Justice John Roberts, the court questioned the administration's reasoning for adding the question and ordered the case to be reconsidered by a lower court.

Critics of the citizenship question argue that asking it would result in less accurate data and disproportionately harm cities and states with large immigrant populations, as well as immigrants themselves. The question has not been posed to all U.S. households since 1950. If included on the census, one government analysis determined that as many as 6.5 million fewer people may respond. As a result, California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, New York and Illinois all face serious risk of losing a seat in the House, one federal court found.

Supreme Court decides federal judges cannot block gerrymanderingThe Supreme Court rules that federal courts may not block gerrymandering in a 5-4 decision that falls along partisan lines. This is wrong. The right for representation is a federal right. Of course a majority right winged court would rule that. I say burn down the court, its no longer the Supreme Court, they are just partisan republican hacks.

Supreme Court rules on conservative effort to weaken federal agenciesThank goodness. Conservatives are trying to make government -- OUR SELF GOVERNANCE -- obsolete. Glad to see the Court put a stop to this particular tactic. Peepster3 They are actually giving them the continuation of the administrative state as their enemy, as opposed to making Congress & the courts be the bad guy to conservatives. Don't buy the hype. Congress should be making regs, not the agencies.

Supreme Court allows partisan districts, blocks census querySupreme Court says Trump administration explanation for wanting to add citizenship question to census was “more of a distraction” than explanation. Forms are to be printed next week and it’s unclear whether the administration would have time to respond. Good....They got This one Right!! The Trump administration creating DISTRACTIONS? Now, who could imagine THAT? The census determines state funding, house representation and electoral college votes. I think that's enough of an explanation why we need a citizenship question.
