Supreme Court allows partisan districts, blocks census query

The court rejected challenges to Republican-drawn congressional districts in North Carolina and a Democratic district in Maryland. Proponents of limiting partisan gerrymandering still have several routes open to them, including challenges in state courts. There is a pending North Carolina lawsuit. In Maryland, Democrats controlled redistricting and sought to flip one district that had been represented by a Republican for 20 years. Their plan succeeded, and a lower court concluded that the district violated the Constitution.In the census case, the court said the Trump administration’s explanation for wanting to add the question was “more of a distraction” than an explanation. The administration had cited the need to improve enforcement of the Voting Rights Act.

That’s so stupid ‘ putting Roberts on the court was a mistake!!!!

Now Trump wants to postpone the 2020 census. Before the lower court the Supreme Court sent the decision to be made even hears it.

The constitution clearly says that the census is meant to count every single person living in this country. Regardless of status.

We Citizens are paying for representations for illegals. We are loosing our Country and Supreme Court is helping them take it. You call it a tax I figure it to be a theft.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump defies the SCOTUS ruling, and puts the question on there anyway. He has flown in the face of every other norm known to our constitution. Mitch, and his band of criminal Republicans will have nothing to say.

I don't understand why it even matters. Lets be realistic, if your house is full of illegals are you answering the door and telling a census taker that? Do they have search warrants? And they expect honesty? 😂😂😂😂

I am in a Democrat State and I will not fill out the census now because of what they ruled.

There are many reasons for the question to be on it. But if it is not the census would be incomplete, untrustworthy, and inaccurate. And will cost taxpayers in more ways then monetarily.

So, it's ok for marketeers to acquire personal infon info (age, ethnicity, sex, wages, etc.) so they can exploit it for profit. But it's NOT ok for a ligitimate Government wanting to know who resides in its country...(BECAUSE the Party of opposition WANTS to exploit it...).

That is pathetic. The left's reasoning I'm not putting it on there actually has no basis in provable fact. how can it? They are saying that immigrants won't take the census when they really mean illegals. It's a simple argument to make.
