LONDON - Wikileaks founder Julian Assange was sentenced by a London court on Wednesday to 50 weeks in jail for skipping bail. Assange broke bail to enter the Ecuadorean embassy almost seven years ago. He was dragged out of the embassy last month and charged by the United States for one of the biggest ever leaks of classified information.

Judge Deborah Taylor said Assange had exploited his privileged position to flout the law and express his disdain for British justice.

'For opposing the deep-state' Fixed it for you! More on that here:

It is pathetic to no that the British government caved in to the USA government pressure in jailing Mr Assange .

'[Assange] was accused by two Swedish women of sexual assault and rape in 2010'. FALSE. But only one of the many lies peddled by the media to smear him and undermine support for him. Wikileaks has never published a falsehood. Media like Reuters do it all the time.

He deserves it! Assange is a spoiled child! He's not a journalist! He's nothing!

They let him out on bail?

Prison for skipping bail on an accusation that he ultimately was not charged with?

Less than a year. Not bad.

He is punished because he said the truth.
