Defense attorney Abbe Lowell wrapped up his 80-minute closing argument by demanding that the jury find reasonable doubt in the government’s case against Hunter Biden. Lowell sought to undermine key elements of the prosecution’s argument, saying large sums of cash Biden withdrew around the time of the gun purchase at the center of the case were because he didn’t have a credit card.
“The prosecution said, ‘No matter what your name is, no one is above the law,’ but I think they missed the point,” Lowell said, before noting that the U.S. legal system offers everyone the right to due process and protection against bogus charges. “It means that Hunter deserves those rights … as much as anyone.” Lowell even suggested that prosecutors had crossed the line when they asked Naomi Biden, Hunter’s daughter, whether she had used crack cocaine, calling such a question “cruel.
