Apparently it’s legal currency and anyone can refuse to take it just like they can refuse any other legal currency I was in taxi in Basingstoke and offered the guy a Clydesdale bank £20 note and he said 'eh I don't accept that' so I said fair enough and got out of the taxi and walked away, he was more than happy to accept it then. These notes not legal tender. Simple as that. Similarly had she tried to pay in pennies, the shop could have refused them.
