Former Seton Hall forward Mike Nzei has already pointed the way toward his professional future by accepting a job at Goldman Sachs. Two weeks after playing in his final college game, Mike Nzei agreed to terms as a professional.The former Seton Hall University basketball standout has accepted a position with the Goldman Sachs investment bank and financial services company in New York City to be part of its sales and trading analyst program.
“Right now, I see my career being in finance,” said Nzei, a solid player who is eschewing potential tryouts to play basketball overseas. “I just want to focus on that.” “I was educating him,” Grier said, “on what I do for a living and what would happen in the interview. He came ready to play, ready to go. … He was incredibly grateful to me for offering to help.”
In his first four years as a student at Seton Hall, Nzei posted a 3.56 GPA and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He was also named three times to the academic all-Big East team before winning Big East scholar-athlete honors. Nzei vowed that even though his Wall Street experience meant he spent much less time than usual practicing basketball last summer.
“It made me realize the coaches really cared about me outside of basketball,” he said. “Coach understood where my head was at and how important would be in my journey. He told me, 'Mike, whatever you need, we’ll support you.' Coach Grant would work me out on the weekends.”
