Islamic State called the attack revenge for Turkish military involvement in Syria. The main suspect, Abdulkadir Masharipov, an Uzbek national, was later captured by police. Establishing causal connectivities and chain of command logistics between a general western social media site and terror events caused by terror cells in Jordan or Levantine nations is a slim picking, and assumes only one causality has relevance.
