U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday considers whether Twitter can be sued for aiding and abetting the spread of militant Islamist ideology in a case concerning a Jordanian citizen killed in a terrorist attack.

that without the active assistance of Twitter, Facebook and Google, ISIS' message and related recruiting efforts would not have spread so widely. It does not allege that Twitter actively sought to aid ISIS.that it provides the same generic services for all its users and actively tries to prevent terrorists from using them. A ruling against the company could allow lawsuits against many entities that provide widely available goods or services, including humanitarian groups, the lawyers say.

A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit, but the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said in a 2021 ruling that the aiding and abetting claim could move forward. The family adequately alleged that the companies had provided substantial assistance to ISIS, the court concluded. In the related YouTube case, justices could avoid ruling on the scope of Section 230 immunity — a closely watched issue in the tech industry — if they rule in favor of Twitter in Wednesday's case. That would lead to the YouTube lawsuit's being dismissed irrespective of whether the company is protected by Section 230.

Can Twitter Join Myspace In The Grave?

They did everyone knows it but with free speech they can not right but they can.

Don’t forget Twitter burying info that may have changed last Presidential election. NBC hasn’t covered it.

What's a Woman? If a Justice can't answer that simple question they must be removed immediately!

They won't dare say yes, because that will open the door for lawsuits against websites that aid and abet white racists, and since the majority of SCOTUS are white racists, they don't want to step on their own tongues.

SCOTUS will probably decide that Twitter didn’t do enough to help the terrorists.🤷‍♂️

Establishing causal connectivities and chain of command logistics between a general western social media site and terror events caused by terror cells in Jordan or Levantine nations is a slim picking, and assumes only one causality has relevance. It is just too tendentious, stop.

Supreme Court showdown for Google, Twitter and the social media worldAt the center of two cases to be argued over two days is Section 230, which provides tech companies a legal shield over what users post online. Not just social media, it protects any and every website that has user content. From facebook to a mom and pop site about knitting, if you allow users to comment/post, 230 protects you from being sued because of said posts.
