represented a victory long in the making for a well-organized and generously funded conservative movement to push America's courts rightward, aided by legal activists and deft political maneuvering by top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell.
Trump's pitch appealed to conservative Christian voters, who became a key constituency during his presidency. "The overturning of this case after the five decades of morass that Roe created is a major victory for constitutionalism and the rule of law," said Carrie Severino, president of the Judicial Crisis Network, a conservative legal group that has helped promote Republican judicial appointments.
The Supreme Court for decades had a majority of Republican appointees but until now lacked the five votes needed to overturn Roe. The last time it had been so close was in 1992 in a case called Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey. Trump and McConnell - who have an icy relationship - were critical in engineering the demise of Roe. McConnell, as Senate majority leader, in 2016 blocked Democratic President Barack Obama from appointing a justice to the court in the last year of his term after conservative Justice Antonin Scalia died. Obama's nominee would have given the court a 5-4 liberal majority.
Leo helped compile a list of potential Supreme Court nominees that Trump touted as a candidate before the 2016 election in a bid to attract conservative voters. Leo did not respond to messages seeking comment for this story.
You don’t exist any more…go and find live ….a real live.
It should have been sent to the State level 50 yrs ago. They're just correcting a wrong ruling. It's not SCOTUS job to make laws. They interpret laws based on the US Constitution which gives that power to the public. The people will now decide thru voting.
Who the hell are these CTV journalists? They sound like amateur woke activists. FOCUS ON REAL CANADIAN ISSUES FFS!!
I wonder if Obama regrets making fun of Trump in 2011?
Nice DISTRACTION Trudeau says: 'We did not put any undue influence or pressure' in the 2020 Nova Scotia mass shooting investigation…but ANY political pressure UNDUE or not on Police by government , is ILLEGAL in a democracy..!!!! So Trudeau just BROKE the LAW a “little” again..?
Actually the US Supreme Court is staying population neutral. The Roe decision will incease US population with unwanted children. Their recent ruling that puts more guns on the street will murder more people to reduce population. Great job US Supreme Court!!
Only good thing Trump achieved, TBH
BREAKING: Canada is not the USA and is a completely different country with completely different laws. Abortions remain legal here…

I hope men will be willing to pay child support from conception.

Summing it up...
Your man, ladies.Nobody respects women like Trump. Trump can respect women with one hand. He can respect women standing on his head. For Trump, respecting women is as easy as falling of a log. Respect women? 'Easy, peasy,' says Trump. 'Russia, if your listening, respect women.'
This sends it back to each State to decide. Abortion isn’t a constitutional right.
If you really respect LAW, you shouldn’t have used ‘Trump’s Justice “. Justin Trudeau often abuses law, it has never been termed “Trudeau’s Justice “.
Kinda nuts… the justices he picked, the president who sought to overthrow the US democracy, and who spoke glowingly about him, did this
This is a historic day that will be looked at in history like the abolishment of slavery. Preborn lives matter.
USA is now NAZI GERMANY and has slipped back into to 40's. CivilWar is on the horizon. FuckSCOTUS NaziSCOTUS
