New abortion fight: Could the feds guarantee a right to abortion nationwide? The controversial Senate vote today - now on ABC7

But if the Democratic legislation were to become law, it would do more than just preserve the status quo.

The bill would also expand protections, invalidating many state laws that Democrats and abortion rights advocates say have infringed on the original 1973 ruling. Two Republican senators who support abortion rights have indicated they won't vote for it, instead favoring their own, narrower legislation.Broadly, the main objective of the legislation is to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, meaning it would be much harder for the Supreme Court to overturn.

In codifying Roe, the legislation would establish that health care providers have rights to provide abortion services and that patients have a right to receive abortions.

Senate unanimously passes bill to protect families of Supreme Court justicesThe Senate unanimously passed a bill to provide top-level security services to Supreme Court justices and their families amid threats against conservative court members who look likely to strike down Roe v. Wade. Ive never had any connection to anyone named Ruth. Only loose connection I had was a woman on the Iowa Association of Housing Officials Board (a white woman from Carroll Iowa). She would be in her 70s now. Wow unanimous ? Lol the neverending hand maidens tale references serve as a constant reminder of the Left's lack of subtlety and general delusion
