Currently, migrants who do not hold Canadian citizenship can only challenge detention through an immigration tribunal or a judicial review

Why? Those rights are for citizens only.

Should have been thrown out IMMEDIATELY! cndpoli “Sorry no grounds and here is your plane ticket home”. End of.

Quick justin give them an apology and a large handful of taxpayer money.

Challenge their detention, at the taxpayers cost! Accept detention or be deported immediately. This man was convicted of several crimes while here as a refugee, why wouldn’t he be detained?

more bullshit coming out of immigration. Is anyone in charge? NO NO NO

Like it or not, the Supreme Court will have to acknowledge the “Charter of Rights” which covers anyone legal or otherwise. “habeas corpus” is a right in Canada and there’s no reasonable grounds to with hold it from detainees. Thank Trudeau sr for the charter & no border vision.

holy shit .. what is happening in Ottawa? Why should Canadian taxpayers have to pay for this BS? Send the asshats back home. They're here illegally. The ones that are here legally... vet them accordingly. This is a waste of time and money.

Deport!!!

It says it was later found out he had a criminal record. Was he not truthful to start with? I know shocking Lol

Tell me why illegal migrants have any rights in Canada? Who allows this crap to happen?

He has a criminal record what hasn’t he been deported? What happened to the government ensuring the safety of Canadians? We can’t just let criminals walk across the border and do as they wish to Canadians can we

Rights? What rights?

By “migrant” do you mean illegal border crossers? If so, why would anyone bother to emigrate legally ?

Healing lodge ➡ ➡ ➡ ➡

There you go with that R word again, a society obsessed with rights while ignoring responsibilities is doomed to fail.

Who's paying to bring this crap to the court? What are authorities supposed to do? Let them run around free? Any question of admissibility should have 2 options. Either detention pending admissibility or immediate deportation.

Deport them they won’t be detained.

And yet they simply refuse to leave.

Reporter must give RCMP material about accused terrorist: Supreme CourtThe Supreme Court of Canada says a reporter must give the RCMP material he gathered for stories about an accused terrorist. You get what you deserve. You are from independent unbiased news. Perhaps if you were the ruling might be different. No journalist is above the law and neither are their sources. He was in contact with a terrorist and had to give up the material he had with said terrorist to the RCMP, sounds like the RCMP is doing their job to me.
