Press freedom will recover. That’s a truthful understanding.

Yes, he should. Protection of us all means sharing information on the terrorist. It's simple.

Bull. When you are dealing with traitors that go and join ISIS, the most radical killing machine since Hitler, there has to be a line in the sand where a a journalist knows the difference between evil and good in the name of freedom.

Anyone with terrorist info should be bound by law to disclose it to RCMP. This is a national security issue.

miketrumpjibc The reason you have freedom is because of the safety of our Country. Remove that and see how your job goes.

The “Free press” is costing the CDN taxpayer over 600 million, over 2 billion if you count the CBC. Having a free press is getting very expensive.

National security should always outweigh the presses ability to protect a source.

Soon you will all be Trudeau’s little minions anyway, selectively printing what he wishes and deleting what he doesn’t. I mean let’s face it, he did just purchase your loyalty with the massive amount of cash he just threw your way!

Free press is one thing but tell us only the unfake news and keep your opinions to yourself.

it's more of a dark day for press honesty

Good for the SCoC! Anyone withholding information on ISSI and their activities or communications puts every Canadian at risk!

CTVLondon .vicenews VICE I have ZERO issues with this decision. Tell me, what’s more important than public safety? “Understanding the world in which we live” Get the F outta here

He was in contact with a terrorist and had to give up the material he had with said terrorist to the RCMP, sounds like the RCMP is doing their job to me.

No journalist is above the law and neither are their sources.

You get what you deserve. You are from independent unbiased news. Perhaps if you were the ruling might be different.

Supreme Court to rule on case that pits RCMP against reporterThe Supreme Court of Canada will render its judgement Friday on whether a journalist’s communications with a self-described Canadian member of ISIS must be handed over to the RCMP. Our taxes pay for RCMP activity. The RCMP derives its authority from statutes and cannot subcontract the authority or extend the word or spirit of those statutes. If it likes and wants good investigative tools similar to the media, it should build it into its own budget. Someone is making a bad joke right? Self Described member of ISIS, uh yeah .... you had that over to the authorities, you know the ones who (try) to protect us again that kind of thing.
