Texas senator likens landmark 2015 Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage to...

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, speaks during the confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson before the Senate Judiciary Committee Monday, March 21, 2022, on Capitol Hill in Washington. WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Cornyn on Tuesday pointed to the landmark 2015 Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage as an example of the sort of"court-made law" that he worries Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson might practice if she were confirmed to the high court.

The 14th Amendment prohibits states from depriving “any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” The Supreme Court in 2015 ruled state laws barring same-sex marriage violated the 14th Amendment. Cornyn said the ruling created a “conflict between what people may believe as a matter of their religious faith, and what the federal government says is the law of the land.”“When there is a right, it means that there are limitations on regulation, even if people are regulating pursuant to their sincerely held religious beliefs,” she said.

The only men I know who are so obsessed with gay people are closet cases. JohnCornyn?

GOD IS GOOD, SWIFT TO MERCY SLOW TO ANGER, AND THIIS MAN IS PROOF.

Translation: I also am an assh*le Senator from Texas desirous of Fox News attention.

Republicans want to keep fighting the same old culture wars they already lost. They live in the past and want to drag us all backward.

It’s more like a question for himself

They're Constitionalists, John. Show me where in the Constitution it says marriage is determined by the state?

And somehow, LGBT individuals still vote Republican in Texas. I can't figure that out for the life of me.

Finally saying the quiet stuff aloud now, are we, JohnCornyn? Yet another bigoted Republican who believes there are different classes of American citizens under the Constitution whose rights shall be doled out as seen fit by the old white men.

Umm…citizens?

Texans Mr. Cornyn. Many of 'these people' are Texans, or Texas parents, grandparents, friends and coworkers. People you're paid to care about.🤦‍♀️

Dangerous, inspired by Trumpism rhetoric, Cornyn wants to take us back to the times when prejudice and inequity were standard. Don't be fooled, the GOP will take these rights away if you let them.

He’s an embarrassment

They are just people wanting to marry.
