The eyes of the world will not descend not on Rod Laver Arena's Centre Court today but instead on the Federal Circuit and Family Court as Novak Djokovic fights to play in the Australian Open.

The lawyers also call attention to what they dub "jurisdictional errors", and say Djokovic's COVID-19 infection in December puts him clearly in line with ATAGI's advice on medical contraindications for coronavirus vaccination.

"I think there are difficulties with his arguments, but the court will look that he was led to believe that he was entitled to come here," he said. "There is no such thing as an assurance of entry by a non-citizen into Australia. Rather, there are criteria and conditions for entry, and reasons for refusal or cancellation of a visa," the submission said.

It also challenged Djokovic's claim for a medical exemption from Australia's vaccination requirements on the basis he contracted COVID-19 in mid-December.

He's such a gross human. He knowingly exposed children and adults to covid. Some people are still defending him. This is everything wrong with celebrity culture.

He's free. Let him play. Don't try to bastardise the independent legal system by taking away his visa. He is less infectious than most Australians

I hope someone at the Australian Open is called to a public government hearing to answer questions about this or in a public courtroom. The leaders of the Australian Open need to answer for giving him the impression he would be okay to play unvaccinated.

İf i won that many tournaments and made millions, instead of throwing a tantrum I'd go live in an island somewhere ffs İt's just greed and wanting more!

If he can stay, can I visit my bf then? We’ve been waiting since the end of 2019. Thanks.

Leaked documents show Australian officials mishandling and now scapegoating Novak. auspol

The violent mongrel should never be allowed in any country other than his own.

He is a dangerous anti social man who willingly integrates with people while knowing he is positive - this slams the door on any innocent notions he tries to pretend having - We should fine him and detain him until event over but not allow his unvaccinated body near others

As incompetent as our government is, my money is on Djokovic faking his December 16 covid infection.

FAKE NEWS!!! stop lying to everyone, Novak is NOT BEING DETAINED, he can leave whenever he wants.

When he loses in court, he will make AusOpen history by being the first person to be knocked out of the tournament by missing 2 shots

The strict border rules no longer make sense when we have such high case numbers in almost every major city.

Kyrgios says Djokovic will use detention as ‘added fuel’ if able to play Australian OpenIf Novak Djokovic wins his court battle on Monday, Nick Kyrgios believes he will play like a man possessed at the Australian Open. Wounded bull… Kyrgios your a man child just like him. Both are embarrassing for tennis. Of course he will. He’s a winner. He has determination and takes challenges head on. Adversity makes him better, as it does in all of us if we embraced it. If just a few more people had his tenacity, the world would be an even better place.
