'COVID-19 is disproportionately likely to be fatal' for disabled and elderly voters, Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in her dissent.

In a 5-3 ruling issued Wednesday, the Supreme Court ruled that Alabama can bar curbside voting, a method of drop-off voting sought by state advocates to minimize possible COVID-19 exposure in public polling places on Election Day.

Alabama's Republican Secretary of State John Merrill had banned curbside voting in the upcoming election. On October 13, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit voted 2-1 to allow curbside voting to proceed. In response, Merrill issued an emergency petition asking the Supreme Court to take up the case.reports that the court's five conservative justices didn't write an explanation for their decision, something commonly excluded in decisions on emergency petitions.

Amy Coney Barrett: Full Senate to vote on Trump's Supreme Court nominee on MondayThe full Senate plans to vote on Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court on Monday, likely allowing Barrett to take her place as the ninth justice just days before Election Day. If Biden wins in the house and the Senate are in the power of the Democrats, should they repeal the decision? Do they have that power according to the Constitution? Borderline criminal. The GOP would have voters believe they are trustworthy public servants and yet they perform this stunt just four years after blocking Obama from appointing Garland in an election year. It is all about power for the GOP. All their principles are gone.
