The Supreme Court has decided not to intervene in a defamation suit brought by prominent climate scientist Michael Mann against the National Review, a conservative magazine he sued in 2012 after it criticized him.

Washington The Supreme Court decided Monday not to intervene in a defamation suit brought by prominent climate scientist Michael Mann against the National Review, a conservative magazine he sued in 2012 after it criticized him.

In an unsigned order, the high court allowed the case to continue in the lower courts. The National Review had asked the Supreme Court to throw out the case. Mann sued The National Review seven years ago in Washington, DC, after two of its columnists criticized Mann and his "Hockey Stick" curve, a graph that boldly illustrates the dramatic rise in average global temperatures over the past 50 years.

HI Hockey stick is pure nonsense. I find it strange if people start suing to silence criticism. He hockey stick combined different types of data.

So you can't expose bullshiters anymore? What's next? Don't expose psychics?

Celebrate this all you want, lefties. But this ruling should send chills down MSM spines.

Since this is a CNN tweet, “prominent” must mean he is an over-the-top global warmist.

Alito said protecting the First Amendment meant the Supreme Court should take up the case that it would normally let play out at lower levels before stepping in. He will lose when it ends up in front of the Supreme court again. A procedural win only.
