Campaigners have lost a significant legal battle against the government's handling of the rise in women's state pension age.
Women born in the 1950s claim the rise is unfair because they were not given enough time to make adjustments to cope with years without a state pension.In a summary of the court's decision, the judges said:"There was no direct discrimination on grounds of sex, because this legislation does not treat women less favourably than men in law.
As men and women are equal, i see no right to challenge it.. If women got their pension put back to 60, then under equality so should men!, does feel a bit like double standards.

Did anyone really doubt the out come if this? I am one of these women and to be honest never for one minute did I think that the law would uphold this argument, they are after all on the side of the politicians so we never stood a chance!!!
And they say the courts do not make political decisions. It would have cost a fortune for the government. No problem with equality. Just the lack of time to make alternative plans, 4 years warning that I wasn't going to get a pension is not long enough to plan ahead.

People are missing the point, many of these women had children, they looked after these children which meant they were not earning a wage, the father was. The state expected this of women and then shit on them. This isn't about equality, it's about government greed.

The problem is that lot of teenagers have had children and are living off the state and are still not working so there's no extra money for the ones who have worked and brought up a family both over the years.
What happens to the money paid for pension but the person dies before drawing it?

This is a real pity. They believed when they commenced work many from age 15yrs or 16 yrs they would be able to receive their state pension when they reached 60yrs. Would be interested to know when and what pension MP’s get? Doesn’t seem right!!!!!

When men have to retire at 67 or 68 instead of 65 maybe we can get a court case together as we will have been robbed as well.
I'm all for equality but this should have been brought in more gradually. Having to wait 6 more years for your pension (as I have) is a real sickener.
