McKee returns serve at Cheika as Australia bid to save Hodge | geerob

Fiji coach John McKee has hit back at Michael Cheika after the Australian accused him of being two-faced over Reece Hodge's 'dangerous' tackle on Peceli Yato.

The Television Match Official looked at the tackle at the request of referee Ben O'Keeffe and said it was fine, but on review the citing commissioner found it met the red card threshold for foul play.Hodge faces a two-week suspension but will argue his case before a three-person judicial panel in Tokyo on Wednesday. The Wallabies locked in Martin, who has represented Reds players on judiciary matters during the Super Rugby season.

"The process in the World Cup, it is the citing commissioner who cites people if they deem something could have been a red card offence and was missed on the field. In the citing official’s opinion, it’s a red card offence and it’s up to Australian rugby to argue whatever they wish, and for the judiciary to decide."
