SIR – Anyone who followed Lord Sumption’s Reith Lectures earlier this year will be aware that an unspoken issue is at play in the current Supreme Court hearing relating to Boris Johnson’s decision to prorogue Parliament . It concerns the creeping accretion of power by the judiciary, a phenomenon apparent across the Western world.
