The Philippine National Police will seek the help of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to catch convicts of heinous crimes who went abroad after being released via the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) Law.

PNP Chief General Oscar Albayalde said a “red notice” will be issued against them.

Speaking at the Western Visayas regional celebration of the 118th police anniversary in Iloilo City, Albayalde said those convicts who went abroad after their release are welcome to go back to the country. The PNP chief did not elaborate if the PNP knows how many of the 1,914 convicts of heinous crimes were released by the Bureau of Corrections already left the country.

But Albayalde noted how the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is tracking down the convicts as BuCor submitted the names to the police. He also lauded how 19 of the convicts surrendered to police stations in Cagayan Valley regions after heeding the call of President Duterte to surrender.

Albayalde reiterated how police all over the country will follow the shoot-to-kill order of President Duterte if the convicts will not surrender within 15 days as instructed by President Duterte.
