DAVAO CITY - A rape convict released early through good conduct credits on Friday surrendered to authorities amid President Rodrigo Duterte's order for heinous crime prisoners freed under the good conduct time allowance law to turn themselves in.

He was supposed to serve 40 years pursuant to Article 70 of the Revised Penal Code but was granted parole under the GCTA. "Upon proper checking of his document, he was able to present his release order. We accompanied him to the Public Attorney's Office so he can execute an affidavit of voluntary surrender. And then after that, he is now in the custody of IDMB office," he said.
