NATIONAL Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. will pursue the perjury complaint against rights group Karapatan and others as he submitted his reply affidavit before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday.
The complaint filed by Esperon on July 2 was in relation to the Writ of Amparo and Habeas Data petition previously filed by members of Karapatan, the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines and Gabriela before the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals against President Rodrigo Duterte, Esperon and other high-ranking military and government officials.
Esperon said the RMP, a religious group, misrepresented itself in the amparo petition as a non-stock, non-profit corporation, citing a certification from the Securities and Exchange Commission issued on Aug. 15, 2019 that it has revoked the group’s registration on Aug. 20, 2003.Dadaanin ko sa legal, di ba, maski magkaroon ng malakas naKarapatan’s camp previously submitted documents to prove RMP’s legitimacy, along with the counter-affidavit on August 15.
Karapatan will submit its rejoinder on October 5. This will be the last step before the Prosecutor’s Office releases a resolution.
