KUALA LUMPUR: A witness in Najib Razak’s 1MDB trial told the High Court here today that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho had exerted authority and influence despite having no official position.
He said this included attending to Najib’s international programmes, working visits, business proposals and policies, social work and matters pertaining to 1MDB. “Jho Low would direct us from the Prime Minister’s Department, especially Najib’s confidential secretary Azlin Alias and I who executed the prime minister’s orders,” he said when examined by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib.
“However, sometimes Azlin and I cross-checked with Najib to confirm whether what Jho Low told us was true,” he said.
