A Perth woman has admitted trying to conceal the birth of her baby, whose body was found in a box, in what is believed to be the first case of its type to be brought before the courts in Western Australia. She took a pregnancy test that showed positive but continued to have periodsThe woman, who the ABC has chosen not to identify, was 22 years old in August last year and 33 weeks into her pregnancy when she gave birth to the child in the bathroom of her parents' house.
The woman's lawyer, Ken Bates, said his client now maintains that she had no recollection of what happened, although she did tell a friend that she"freaked out" after the baby"came out feet first and blue". While her family and friends suspected she was pregnant, she denied it and wore baggy clothes to disguise it.
He said the woman was not accused of causing or contributing to the child's death, which the court heard could not be determined.
Since when did we become El Salvador?
Who pursued this? Why?
People cry outrage at this poor woman’s actions and yet support the murder of unborn children brutally killed in drs surgeries and hospitals - I’m speechless, how?
a friend of mine was found dead in her daughters cubbyhouse out the back in similar circumstances, its always great to see the legal system acting as a machine
I wonder what has been achieved by dragging this poor woman through the courts.
