A kennel owner has been ordered to pay £93,000 in costs after a neighbour took her to court complaining about barking dogs

Sharon Tidnam and her husband Russell say they cannot afford the fines

As well as the legal bill, she was ordered to pay Matthew McNiff £3,000 in compensation for moving costs.District judge Malcolm Dodds told Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court:"This is a very sad case involving four extremely sad people." But the judge said Mr McNiff was entitled to the legal representation he chose adding the couple could use profits from their business and draw equity from their house to pay the costs.

Paw couple.

Geee-zus !

Go to appeal or pay £1 a month

This seems to have been corrected on copy, but it’s a costs order, not a fine.

Serves them right. Raise the money by selling some dogs to the local Chinese restaurant.

Surely it’s a simple case of who moved in first? Kennel owners or neighbour? If it was neighbour, kennels lose and vice versa

I can absolutely understand that. Barking dogs drive me crazy

Barking dogs drive me nuts . Idiot neighbours allowing their dogs to bark bin stop deserve punishment. However this is a Kennels and one would expect that level of brking

Another bloody incomer, as a Barrister he would have known of the presence of this business. He must have very sensitive hearing to be disturbed by barking dogs from that distance, pastic glass in his windows or double glazed. Don't live next door to tis twat

A dog barking in the night is amazingly intrusive, and once it starts irritating you, it gets louder. In this situation the true winners are the legal team, fat fees over a storm in a teacup. Many people suffer more noise nuisance but don't have £ clout or know how

I don't understand how it got to this stage?

Something very strange where the council does lots of checks and finds no evidence of noise nuisance . What evidence was used by the judge , if not the council’s ?

leave that ridiculous country , British Gringos come live in Australia Britain is doomed .

Noise pollution is no joke, my neighbor has been fined for the same thing, every summer they would goto work and leave the dogs in the garden who would then bark until the owners returned at 6pm. Relentless noise for 10 hours a day every day

Why is this news ffs

That's what happens when you live next foot to a know it all barrister.

My neighbour's dog barks all night its annoying

I hate barking dogs.

👏👏👏👏👏👏 absolutely, keep ya dogs hush hush.....

Value for the license fee......

That's a bit woof 🐶 I don't know meow she's going to pay it. ? 🐱 Maybe she'll neigh it, no bother ? 🐎

People have the right to peace and quiet. I live next to a hoodie with a dog that was barking until at least 3 in the morning. It is hell.

Really!!!! How can you stop dogs from barking I wonder?

Hahaha good. Horrible creatures. The dogs, not the couple.

Wuf justice ...

thegingerpig Ruff Justice !

neighbouring with a barris... is a kind of high risk. 😰

Woof decision but ultimately the correct one.

It’s a dogs life

Is this news?

Well who chooses to live near a kennel if they can’t abide dogs barking 🤷🏼‍♀️ actually backs up my hate for humans in general

I’m guessing they won’t bark no more.

Complete insanity! Barking Dogs Get used to them!!!

Hope I get this payout in compensation for hearing my barking mad neighbour shouting and swearing in his garden for many years.

Call BorisJohnson and the Conservatives bluecollartory_ they'll make sure pesky EU regulations like this don't stand in the way of hard working entrepreneurs.

errrm, it a bloody kennel. It is a place where there are dogs (sort of bloody obvious) and, surprisingly, dogs bark. Whoever brought this court case was obviously barking (mad).

Good the kennel owner deserves it.

appalling I!m on their side neighbour should be ashamed thinks this was the right thing to do because they are a barrister NO

They always say that owners resemble their dogs

That’s a little ruff...

Shouldn't have ignored the original complaint. Barking dogs can be huge pain which the owner often can't see or won't deal with. People are entitled to peace and quiet. Having said that it's a brutal fine and hardly seems justified.
