Did New Brunswick host Canada’s first legal cannabis pop-up? via TheGrowthOp

In what might be a Canadian first, New Brunswick’s only legal retailer of recreational cannabis, Cannabis NB, set up a legal, non-permanent, pop-up retail cannabis store at the recent World Cannabis Congress , an industry convention held in June in Saint John that was presented by media company, Civilized Worldwide Inc.

But all of these stores have been brick-and-mortar locations, and provincial regulators across the country have apparently largely shied away from non-traditional sales channels, though there’s nothing in the federal law that prohibits them. Cannabis NB’s temporary location at the conference is possibly the country’s first legal pop-up shop.

Security was a prime concernSecurity was top of mind for the provincial agency in setting up the pop-up, which Wood says required close collaboration with Civilized as well as the venue. “That was obviously a huge consideration for us, and part of the reason we decided to go forward with this event was that we wanted to recreate the security and experience in the store as much as possible,” she notes.

Everything apparently went off without a hitch, with Wood reporting that there were no security incidents.
