Nigerian newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Thursday morning

1. A Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, Wednesday, endorsed the terms of out of court settlement adopted by the DAAR Communications Plc and the National Broadcasting Commission . This development followed the ensued dispute over the controversial suspension of the operational licence of DAAR Communications Plc by the NBC.

3. The Committee on the Recovery of Imo Government Property has alleged that about N50 billion worth of property belonging to the state was discovered to be missing after former Gov. Rochas Okorocha left office. Mr Jasper Ndubuaku, the Chairman of the committee, said this on Wednesday at a press conference in Owerri, while speaking on the recoveries so far made by the committee.

5. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says it has withdrawn the results of four candidates who participated in its 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination . This was announced in a statement by the board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin in Lagos. According to the statement, the candidates are found to have attempted to fraudulently increase their scores at the examination.

7. The Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State are back at each other’s throat over the forthcoming local council election set to take place on the 10th of August. In the latest round of exchanges, Governor Seriake Dickson, who fired the first shot, accused the APC of planning to boycott the council election because the party lacked the capacity to win any election in Bayelsa State.
