The State Claims Agency has confirmed to RTÉ News that it is to appeal a High Court judgement involving Ruth Morrissey, a terminally ill Limerick woman with cervical cancer

A spokesman said the agency was acting on behalf of the HSE, and its appeal was focused on "a number of important legal points that may have significant implications for the State."

In the case last month, Mr Justice Kevin Cross granted a stay on his final judgement providing €700,000 was paid immediately to Ruth Morrissey. He stated: "What I would like to see happen is to try and find a mechanism to protect Ms Morrissey's interest from any appeal.... She has been vindicated in the High Court in relation to her own case, and no-one should try to take that from her."In the case, Ruth Morrissey and her husband Paul successfully sued the Health Service Executive and two laboratories - Quest Diagnostics and MedLab Pathology Limited.

The court heard she was not told until May last year that a 2014 review showed two smears taken under the CervicalCheck screening programme were reported incorrectly.

sharontolan as a woman and as a Fine Gael member - I’m curious as to your stance on this issue. I am in no way attacking you personally but I am standing up for the women of Ireland - my wife and two daughters in particular.

That's disgusting this woman has suffered enough. Where does the hurt end for her and her family. She is an innocent victim of a dysfunctional system. Let the lady have some peace.

This is not the Ireland our forefathers fought for us to have. Jesus wept did he? Well he has defo shit himself on hearing this cop out

The HSE needs to be restructured. Many of the senior beauracrats have created and implemented anti women, anti people and the cause of utter misery. The senior executive and management should be fired for their incompetence and the HSE restructured. SimonHarrisTD

We now have the specter of terminally ill Ruth Morrissey being hounded through the courts by another Fine Geal minister just like Bridget McCole. This on a weekend when we learned how the state treated another innocent woman former Garda Majella Moynihan.

I'm sure Leo Varadker campaignforleo commented on this type of situation not arising! Or am I missing something?

LeoVaradkar and his Tory Posh Boys strike again and rte giving him free spin on the air waves yesterday with a (bend over and I will kiss your arse Leo) interview with Brendan O Connor ! 🤮🤮

That’s right, kick her down and when she’s down kick her some more 😡

SimonHarrisTD & FineGael you mean - but they have no problem spending €12m+ on abortion services . Sooner we repeal this shambolic government the better !

Does the State exist, live in another bureaucratic world than rest o society?

That seems to be a pretty heartless stance for the state to take.

Oh you changed the title. Why?

Absolutely disgusting
