New Yorkers won't go to court, so the city is bringing court to them. With free cookies.

MIDDLE VILLAGE, N.Y.—Xavier Fernandez came to court in this Queens neighborhood to fight a minor charge. Then a cross-eyed cat jumped on the table.

“You got any problem with a cat being in this hearing?” said Hearing Officer Brad Lamel, who serves as a judge. Rocky the office cat arched his back and sidled up to the defendant. Mr. Fernandez said he was allergic.

Awesome job, judge RockyOfficeCat

Aren’t NY’ers suppose to be tough, resilient and do anything types? Apparently they can’t make it to court these days? This must be a DiBlasio thing.

What is Ollie myleftfang doing in New York? (Felix wants to know)

When I last went to court, NYC sent me a Summons for Failure to Appear, then fined by not paying me. Wasn't shirking my civil responsibilities but had been to civil court for 2 weeks, federal court, 10 days later, for 3 years, then supreme three months after that. I did enough.

That’s a kickass idea

“Ok, let’s get the cat out of here,” Mr. Lamel said, shooing away Rocky, and swearing in Mr. Fernandez, who denied a charge of public urination.” So you’re going to have to register as a sex offender, do you want to pet the cat now?

That’s a great looking picture... of me. katie_honan coryramey CoreyinNYC BobHoldenNYC

Law-Abiding Citizen Keeps Herself On Track With Weekly Cheat DayNEW YORK—Saying that sometimes she just needs a little break from her daily regimen, law-abiding citizen Karen Garver told reporters Tuesday that she keeps herself on track with a weekly cheat day in which she allows herself to commit any crime she wants. “I’m pretty strict Sunday through Friday, but come Saturday I tell myself it’s okay to bend the rules a little and improperly dispose of hazardous substances or rob a liquor store,” said Garver, explaining that by setting aside one day a week during which she can evade tax regulations, cause thousands of dollars in property damage, or assault a stranger, she’s able to resist temptation the rest of the week. “Being able to pause from living within the law now and then definitely helps keep me on the right path. Sometimes I’ll make a big day out of it with my girlfriends and we’ll all go out and set a forest fire, and then lead police on a high-speed chase through a crowded residential neighborhood.” Garver said she will let herself off the leash entirely during an upcoming 10-day vacation, however, noting that she doesn’t know when she’ll ever be back to Europe and therefore plans to break whatever Italian laws she pleases. Stick with that extra helping of apple pie. Karen is so Donald. Nobody’s perfect.
