Ray Petherick spent over 71 years sleeping under the Territory's stars, becoming a friend, family, and a voice for the traditional owners of 22 clans from Byone Harbour to Port Keats.

During this time,"fate dealt [Ray] a splendid hand", as he once said, and he met his wife Rose Nangalaku Petherick while cutting timber on paperbark country near the Reynolds and Finnis River in the Northern Territory. The pair fell in love, logged, and lived on platforms built in paperbark trees among the swamps."Not only did they live there, they were out hunting crocodiles, sleeping in swags, going from lagoon to lagoon right down to the coast.

Rosie and Ray married in the Methodist church in Darwin and remained together for 58 years until she passed away in 2007, at the age of 82.The couple raised nine children, as well as extended family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.The Petherick family lived for decades in a hand-built cabin on traditional land in Litchfield National Park, without power, water and cooking on a woodfire, damper included.

Vegan activists promise to break more laws amid proposed crackdownVegan activists from the Direct Action Everywhere group have pledged to continue committing crimes to spread the animal rights message. No - you're about to walk in the steps of any common criminal if it is your wish to break the law! And us non-vegans don't tell you what to eat, so don't tell us what to eat! Threaten my family and livelihood and you'll cop a piece of flying lead. These idiots are making it really hard for us who have to be on a plant based diet for health reasons. It’s embarrassing asking for a Vegan meal knowing that we are going to be wrongly associated with them 😡
