Conservative group Advance Australia has backed down in a legal dispute with independent MP Julia Banks after she threatened to sue for defamation over its claim she was a bully.

The Advance Australia brochure cites untested claims that Julia Banks bullied a young female colleague in her office before she entered Parliament. Ms Banks, who quit the Liberals after warning against bullying in the party during the leadership spill that brought down Malcolm Turnbull, hired lawyers from Corrs Chambers Westgarth to take on Advance Australia after it distributed the leaflet this week. Her lawyer, Richard Leder, acted for actress Rebel Wilson in her successful defamation action againstin recent years, gaining a $4.7 million damages payout that was heavily reduced on appeal.

The Liberal incumbent in Flinders, Health Minister Greg Hunt, said he had no knowledge of the Advance Australia leaflets and did not support personal attacks.

CroweDM 'I am not a Bully', Banks insists, as she bullies others with legal threats. All after leveraging her complaints about being bullied for political gain. Sounds like 'name-calling and dirty tricks' are the bread & butter for all in this situation.
