PM and Labor leader questioned about religion and sexuality after letter from Christian leaders demanding that politicians protect religious beliefs

Asked directly on Monday if he believed gay people go to hell, Mr Morrison replied: "I support the law of the country."

Mr Morrison allowed television cameras and photographers to accompany him into the Pentecostal Horizon Church in Sydney's Sutherland Shire. Mr Morrison said he was guided by the example of his mother, a woman of “quiet decent faith” who translated her faith into action and care for others. The Prime Minister backed freedom of speech and freedom of religion but also backed the right of employers to terminate contracts if they are breached.

Flip flop flip flop... until thy can answer safely and without fear of responsibility. Straight-answer bingo begins now.

I think our 'Christian' leaders should be informed that religion, politics and the law are always to be kept separate. Their arrogance is massive.

religious belief is fine BUT not posting views on social media telling others 'gays would go to hell' They want a licence to slander n denigrate people in d name of religion That is not OK

so leaders who believe there is someone up there in the sky that controls the way we live our lives think they should have the freedom to make gay peoples lives shit? hmm, no thanks

Religious freedom is a basic right for all.

Shorten - a failed Catholic. When it suited him he shifted to the other side. Another example of his opportunist tendancies.

Christian leaders? So only the white God born as a pure blood Israeli-Jew in the hell of illegally Roman colonised Jerusalem matters?

...whether people identify as religious or not, they have been influenced by religion during their upbringing, religion has defined the world, it’s nations and its people’s, religion can’t be ignored, its influence is too great.

A good man that deserves a full term.

Something has to be done to fix things , the more decency is ignored and slease takes over the more violence will escalate. Not a day passes now without violent attacks reported. Not the Australia we loved.

Separation of church and state was originally devised to protect the church from the state. Religious belied has always and should always inform policy and legislation in this country. For Morrison to say his faith is distinct from his politics is folly.
