President Muhammadu Buhari alights from his aircraft as he returns to the country from his 10-day private visit to the UK.

IG ImageHuman rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has sued President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney-General of the Federation over the President’s failure to hand over power to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo when he decided to travel to London on a private visit two weeks ago.

Effiong asked the court to determine whether the President in refusing to adhere to the clear and unambiguous provisions of Section 145 of the constitution had not by that singular action violated his oath of office and the provisions of the constitution which he swore to uphold. Upon the determination of the above questions, Effiong asked for a declaration of the court that by the provisions of Section 145 of the constitution, the President is mandated to compulsorily transmit a written declaration to the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to that effect before proceeding on vacation.

Indeed a violation of sec 145 (1) Whenever the President is proceeding on vacation or is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, he shall Transmit a written declaration to the President of the Senate and d Speaker of the House of Representatives to that effect

I need to look for who to sue now Ooh....🤔 lets see the sun for having and unexplainable wealth, the wife for losing 2 billion and how did she get it? Or the father for reenforcing failure , or a certain SAN for diagracing SANship🤔🤔🤔🤔....thinking......thinking...

and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, the Vice-President shall perform the functions of the President as Acting President.

Festus keyamo Will still defend Buhari on this .. let's watch .

The problem with many people is how they can be so educated but ignorant at the same time, having read the reliefs sought, it is clear that the lawyer is very much on point, we should not tolerate impunity of the sort we see today, let the courts rule, the point has to be made

If the president was wrong, or in violation of section 145, or/and any of its subsections, some SAN, or groups, would have sued. However, in seeking a court interpretation of a section/subsection of a constitution in very much in order, regardless of expected outcome.

Useless.waste of resources.

As almost fruitless as this will turn out to be, the lawyer is not wrong!! Let's get it straight, the president is in direct contradiction of the constitution. In simple terms, he just proved he's above the constitution!!!

Why are they wasting there money and precious time of the judge? The case is dead on arrival.

What is he going to London again for eh? Lazy bagger.

From comments here you will see how hopeless Nigeria and Nigerians are, you dumb president is always breaching the constitution but you think a litigation against him is pointless? You are the reason the country is in shambles.

So unfortunate people are defending this act, I thought no one is greater than the law.

NaijaStruggle Dem never c anything. Dis is jst d beginning of d NXT level. Illiterate in power.

Which lawyer is going after the case that holds no water, are you sure he 'Mr. President' didn't arrange for this just to show his flexibility?

Is that a SAN again?

That is next level attitude

Another pointless litigation, that will waste court time & end up nowhere

I thought Buhari said he would be different but all indications has shown that he is No different from the usual politician. So his change mantra is just a fluke, he did well at the start of his tenure but towards the end see what we are seeing which is pointing in the direction

Pls tell us the name of the lawyer for him to at least gain popularity for pursuing a needless issue.

Did lawyer want sha popular

Where are we getting at? Where our president is showing signs of not trusting his vice... Another 4 years of hoping.... saveus

He just struggling to be known.

If the handicapped president and his Charge & Bail Judiciary will understand what you mean by court suit rather than interpret it to mean attack. Some idiots in his cabinet will see it as an insult b/cos they have become slaves in their minds. But Biafrans are all FREE BORRNS!

Una sick
