The NRL will block Jack de Belin being named in St George Illawarra's official 21-man squad if there isn't a decision from the Federal Court in his case against the governing body before Tuesday's team-list deadline.understands the Dragons could be forced to apply for a special exemption to play de Belin in next Sunday's blockbuster against the Eels should the 28-year-old be successful in his bid to have his standing down under the NRL's new no-fault policy overturned.
But the NRL is set to be unmoved on its policy of players which are stood down being named in official team lists early in the week. De Belin was stood down by the NRL after it introduced the no-fault stand down rule to sideline players accused of serious criminal charges until their matters have been resolved in the courts.
"He's been exceptional at training," de Belin's Dragons teammate Ben Hunt said earlier this month. "I don't know what's going on in his head away from the field, but whenever he walks through those gates at training you wouldn't think there's anything wrong.
SMHsport I hope he never plays again.
SMHsport Not sure they can refuse if it proved he was stood down illegally
