Arraignment today for four charged in shooting that resulted in death of 20-year-old Erin Jones

TUCSON, Ariz. — The four suspects arrested for their alleged roles in the house party shooting on 5th Street in late April appeared in court for their arraignments Monday, July 1.

Many of those in attendance at the party were students at the University of Arizona. UA Sophomore Erin Jones was killed in the shooting. Police say the teens were targeting another group of people at the party and Jones was caught in the crossfire. Three 17-year-olds, Tevion Beale, Marcus Williams and Akeem Alvarez, are suspected of shooting at party-goers. 18-year-old Estevan Garcia, who also appeared in court, told police he was the driver. The judge set a case management conference for July 31. Around that time, it may become clearer whether the case is trending towards a plea deal or going to trial. An interim complaint says Garcia drove by the house multiple times and did a U-turn, allowing the other three to then fire at the party.

The teens then parked down the street, and drove to “several other locations,” searching for people to shoot.TPD says the investigation is still open.
