SINGAPORE: Singapore Post (SingPost) started on Tuesday (Jun 25) a three-month trial utilising MRT trains to collect postal items from service points near train stations.

Under the pilot, SingPost employees will use the Tampines and Raffles Place MRT stations to deliver postal items to SingPost’s sorting facility near Paya Lebar MRT station. SINGAPORE: Singapore Post started on Tuesday a three-month trial utilising MRT trains to collect postal items from service points near train stations.

Up to two employees will make the collection each day, riding in MRT cabins on the East-West Line between the off-peak hours of 11am and 2pm, said SingPost and SMRT’s business arm, Stellar Lifestyle, in a news release on Monday. "Commuters can look forward to greater convenience with postal services integrated within train stations, providing a seamless experience and eliminating the need to go out of the way to post offices or courier collection points," the two companies said in the release.

The pilot comes three months after SingPost opened a standalone counter of its parcel drop-offs and returns service POPStop at Tampines MRT station.
