Americans are growing reluctant to answer government surveys, making it harder to measure trends that can drive policy

A case before the Supreme Court this week points to a problem for U.S. statistical agencies: Americans are growing reluctant to answer government surveys.

The high court is scheduled Tuesday to hear oral arguments in a lawsuit over whether the 2020 census can ask respondents if they are U.S. citizens, as the Trump administration plans to do.

Ask Wilber Ross why that is.

Maybe it’s cuz Trump is spreading fear. It’s like Hitler for president. I’m afraid he’s going to deport me for being half Filipino and I’m a second/third generation Filipino..born and bred in USA. Who isn’t scared to notify the gov that they’re not white?

They don't listen to us anyways.

Case in point - I no longer answer ANY government survey. Nor do I cooperate with any government agency or representative. Good luck with the Census......

Trends don’t drive policy. If trends drive policy, why are assault rifles still sold?

And this is a surprise why?

In the 1990s, President Clinton wanted to use statistical sampling but that was way too sciency for Republitards who thought that it would provide overrepresentation to the People. The elitist GOP hates democracy.

Accuracy at core of Supreme Court case over census questionThe accuracy of the once-a-decade population count is at the heart of the Supreme Court case over the Trump administration's effort to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. …Democrats want to water down your state’s representatives and voice by allowing multitudes of illegals to be counted in the census without noting if they are citizens. This is the most brain dead move by Democrats. A census is a waste. Voter registration should be the basis for the census. If you don't vote, you don't get counted. The census determines State funding, State representation, electoral college votes. Yes, it's important to know how many non-citizens are living within each State.

In high-stakes census case, Supreme Court will dissect Trump’s effort to catalogue noncitizensThe administration’s plan to include a citizenship question on the 2020 form has brought intense scrutiny on Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. will they start micro chipping them as well, maybe barcodes? The Justice Department insisted they needed the question to help enforce the voting rights act, so the first question should be 'what mechanism of enforcement requires that enumeration'? How could less information possibly be better. This is what a census is for.
