A man is due to face court over the alleged murder of his wife, whose body was found in the garage of their south-west Sydney home early on Easter Sunday as their young children slept inside the house.

He needed treatment for a hand injury at Fairfield Hospital, but was charged with murder upon his release.Two children, aged six and 10, were asleep inside the home but weren't injured.Police said the victim was yet to be formally identified.

The home remained a crime scene on Sunday afternoon, with the Homicide Squad and forensic crews combing it for evidence.
