Man who raped 12 year-old stepdaughter is sentenced to almost 12 years in prison

A man who raped his 12-year-old stepdaughter repeatedly over a two-month period in an “egregious” violation a decade ago has been jailed for 11 and a half years.

He put his hand over her mouth during the abuse and on one occasion he bit her breasts and pulled her hair, leaving clumps of it on her pillow. Social services were involved with the family and the girl, who was described as vulnerable, was taken into care. Her mother had mental health issues, the court heard.

She noted the man was acting as a stepfather to the girl and was a father figure when he abused her in the “sanctuary” of her own bed in her own home. There was an element of “brutality” in the offending, the judge said. “She was violated in an egregious way,” the judge said.
