Marquis Monte Rex Mack, 22, appeared in the ACT Supreme Court after pleading guilty to two counts of raping a woman and one of threatening to distribute intimate images of her.In a victim impact statement handed to the ACT Supreme Court, the woman gave a harrowing account of the effect of the events, which occurred in a car park opposite a well known Canberra nightclub three years ago.
Mack then started taking pictures, saying "this is so funny, I've just got to send this to my workmate". Mack later forced the woman into oral sex, before sex with no condom, despite her protests when she told him:He told her to be quiet because people around them would hear.At that point, Mack pulled up his pants and suggested they go back to the bar.Mack then said words to the effect of: "Call me in a bit and I'll meet you. I'm coming back to yours. We'll finish what we started.
"The most painful moment of that night was excessively scrubbing my skin to erase the permanent marker from my chest to my knees."When he was first arrested, Mack denied assaulting the woman. And when police said they would seize his phones to collect the videos he said, "that was with permission".Today his lawyer James Sabharwal presented the court with letters from his family, and a letter from Mack himself.
