Hunter Biden's guilty verdict in his gun charges case could impact his California tax fraud case.A Delaware jury found Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, guilty on three felony gun charges Tuesday morning. Prosecutors accused him of lying about his status as a drug user when purchasing a firearm in 2018. Section 922 of the United States Code states it is against the law for anyone who is an 'unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance' to possess a firearm.
They do so by using a person's criminal history points, which are calculated based on previous sentences.Individuals with more criminal history points may serve longer sentences after being found guilty. Because Hunter Biden has been found guilty of three counts, a judge would be authorized to give him a harsher sentence in the tax case if a jury finds him guilty. The trial is set to begin in September.
