A Sudbury lawyer has been issued a notice of application from the Law Society Tribunal of Ontario, under accusations of engaging in professional misconduct “and/or conduct unbecoming a licensee.”
George Florentis of Florentis Law is under investigation as of April 24, based on complaints received by the Law Society Ontario, which regulates the work of Ontario’s lawyers and paralegals. Notices initiate a proceeding before the tribunal, and in most cases lay out the applicant or appellant’s allegations. Another lawyer from Florentis Law, and with the same surname as the accused in this recent action, lost their license to practise in 2015.
From this point, according to Law Society procedure, interviews with relevant parties will take place, as well as the order to produce relevant documents. Those licensed by the Law Society of Ontario have a duty to respond promptly and completely to a request and to cooperate with an investigation.
