A huge Premier League meeting will take place in Harrogate today after Manchester City launched legal action against the Premier League this week.
Between ten and 12 clubs are reported to be in support of the Premier League to defend itself against City. Pep Guardiola's team, recently crowned Premier League champions for the fourth time in a row and the sixth time in seven years, will face off in an arbitration hearing between June 10 and 21. The club believes that the APT rules passed in February are unlawful.
Speaking in an interview with club media on Wednesday, before the legal action was first reported, City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "I hope there's a bit more sensibility in regulating, always a balanced approach. The Times add that City's claim argues they are subject to a 'tyranny of the majority' as a result of the rules, which were introduced in 2021. If City are successful in their challenge, this would give clubs allowance to set up commercial deals free from independent oversight of their true value.
